Hi - my name is Austin Feng, and I'm a freshman at UMD. I was born and raised in Maryland, and have two little sisters. I generally enjoy reading, cooking, calligraphy, and browsing the internet. My major is physiology and neurobiology, and my ultimate goal is becoming a neurosurgeon.
I'm Mahrukh Malik, I'm a junior at College Park and I'm double majoring in Spanish and Biology. In my spare time I like to binge watch Netflix and hike. My interests include women's rights and grilled cheese sandwiches.
My name is Victoria Chen and I am a sophomore cell biology and molecular genetics major here at College Park. I am currently interested in pediatric care but I take every opportunity I can to broaden my horizons and learn more about all areas of medicine. In my free time, I enjoy listening to Japanese pop and American country music, hanging out with friends, and traveling.
My name is Abhrarup Roy, but most people call me Abe. I’m a rising junior at the University of Maryland at College Park. My major is Physiology and Neurobiology with an unofficial minor in Spanish Language and Culture. I am also pre-med, so my aspiration is to become a physician. I have many hobbies and passions such as weight training, playing and watching basketball and baseball, traveling, listening to music, and servicing the community. For me, joining Proyecto Salud was a no-brainer, because it is such a fantastic opportunity in many ways. First, the town of Wheaton and the patients at the clinic are primarily of Spanish descent, so I will be greatly inspired to practice my Spanish. As a student that is trying to become fluent in Spanish, this aspect alone makes this opportunity very appealing to me. Finally, the clinic provides discounted services for lower-income individuals. I can sympathize with these individuals, because I understand the struggles of being underprivileged, as I also came from a lower-income household during my younger years.
